This would rapidly decrease the remaining principal balance; thus increasing the principal portion of your monthly payment; and consequently greatly reducing your remaining years to pay.

Tip #3- Get a buy-down mortgage.

A buy-down mortgage simply means making an advance payment of your one to three years of interest on the principal at a reduced rate over the note rate. Hence, you can save lot from interest and use your savings to make a principal payment to reduce its remaining balance; eventually decreasing its term and pay-off your house in Des Moines early on.
